Happy Australia Day!
- Black velvet mid-length skirt
- Blue Vintage Studio T-shirt
- Silver filigree cuff
- Silver lightning earrings
- Black sunglasses
- Silver ankh & black ribbon (worn around wrist)
- Black Dr. Martens & navy laces
I celebrated by wearing a T-shirt with a subversive message. Then armed with coffee & croissants K & I went to the park to have breakfast. There were lots of people wearing green & gold or pancing about with the Australian flag. We decided not to celebrate too much because really, we’re only half-Australians!
How did you celebrate today? Did you dress up?

- Peppermint tea! I love curling up with a good book & a big mug of hot peppermint tea. I’ve taken to carrying around peppermint teabags around in my bag for emergencies! At home though, nothing beats fresh mint & lots of boiled water. Sip it up! Yum!
- Keeping in touch with friends. Nothing beats good friends. A well timed message from a thoughtful pal puts a smile on my face every time. Its good to know that there are people out there who I can chat to. Make you feel all warm & fuzzy doesn’t it?!
- Organisation. Packing, cleaning, categorising. I’ve finally begun packing up my possessions & stashing them away in boxes. Not that I need half this stuff - I do have a bit of problem with hoarding books! It feels really good to get things out of the way though & have a bit of space; even if it is only desk space!
- Rediscovering old music. I went through some old, long forgotten tracks on the music player & had a blast! I danced around full of nostalgia & singing the lyrics. This stuff is awesome! Makes me wonder why I stopped listening to some of these artists to begin with.
- Bubble baths. Yup, a long soak in a tub full of hot water. It doesn’t get better than this! I like to swish lavender essential oil into the water & daydream.
- Lastly, having hope. I’ve noticed that I’ve started to look forward, instead of backward & it’s a wonderful feeling. Things may not the best they can be at the moment, but I’m not stressing out about it & I’m starting to see life picking up. Here’s to tomorrow!
What are you grateful for today?

It’s New Years Eve! A time for celebrating with good friends, which is exactly what I did - & here’s what I was wearing when the clock struck midnight!
- Black ruffle dress & red satin ribbon
- Red wool beret
- Red patent PVC peep-toe pumps
- Vintage Czech cameo on black satin ribbon
- Silver snowflake earrings
- Black handbag
This is my attempt at the messy hairdo. I don’t think I succeeded much; making messy hair look effortlessly chic is an ironically taxing exercise. For my NYE celebrations I choose a house party hosted by an old school friend of mine where we sat around & talked & giggled & drank till midnight. I drank gin & tonic mixed with lime & a little Campari - super delicious! It was one of the best NYE parties I have been to in a long while. We even had sparklers!

Apologies for the muted expression, but I was feeling a bit glum. I have a junk food hangover you see. No more nachos for me in the near future I think.
- Black jersey shirt
- Black velvet high waisted skirt
- Black patent PVC pumps
- Black ribbon (around left wrist)
- Pearls, pearls, pearls! (the faux kind: around neck, on ears, in hair)
A while ago I went on a shopping spree for faux-pearls. I love the shape & colour of pearls, & how lovely they look en mass. Pearls seem to me to be the epitome of femininity. I used to raid my mother’s jewellery draw for her strings of pearls & wear them whenever I could get away with it. I think that sometimes pearls really deserve to be the centre of attention. To take advantage of the white-on-black contrast they provide, I like to combine pearls with simple black clothing. Though, I have been known to wear pearls wrapped around tartan skirts, coiled around my ankles & thrown over bold T-shirts!
Also, my brother & I picked this cane lawn-chair up from the side of the road. Isn’t it awesome? It needs some tender loving care, but it should make for the perfect garden seat on hot summer days don’t you think?

Things I <3!
1. Books, books, books, books, books, books, and books., 2. bed sheet, 3. Orchid attack, 4. Moét & Chandon, 5. Storm Windows, 6. orchid (opexy)
Reading a good book. I love sitting down to read. I think it is one of life’s most luxuriant pleasures. There are few things that can compete with the thrill of loosing oneself in the whirl of an imaginative novel, a compelling magazine article or a book on a favoured subject. Keep track of your reading adventures with Shelfari. See my shelfari here!
Sleeping in. An all time favourite I must say. My bed is one of my best loved places on earth.
My orchid! It’s amazingly pink, resilient, & always happy. I’d never thought I’d be so head over heals for something so ridiculously pink! But I am & I love it!
Drinking champagne. The froth & bubbles make me happy. Sharing a bottle with friends is wondrous! Yesterday I went to a wedding & afterwards there was much champagne & lots of conversation. I was thoroughly thrilled.
Rain. When we get it, it is lovely & cool & makes everything green. At the moment it is sunny & hot, meaning we are all sticky & sweaty. The weatherman promised us a big electrical storm this afternoon. I hope the clouds are delivered & the rain drops begin!

What I wore today, or at least what I wore about two weeks ago!! I planned to post this, but till now have been having some dastardly technical troubles. Fortunately for now, that is all in the past!
- Black velvet pencil skirt
- Black & white stripe T-shirt
- Black school socks
- Black lace shawl
- Black Mary Janes
- Black wayfarer sunglasses
- Lightning bolt earrings, Silver bangles, Silver & amber ring
Notes: I am totally in love with this skirt. I waer it far too often, & I think I might have to break out the sewing machine & try my hand making some just like it. This outfit is what I wore to my first ever day at the racetrack! As in horse races! My friend landed me a very cruisy job working with her for a bookmaker. This is the first time in my life I’ve been able to wear what I want to work (well, almost what I want…) so I took to the challenge with verve! The racetrack is an exciting place to be & I think I’ve managed to rekindle my girly love of horses.

Apologies for not writing sooner! A combination of an enthusiastic reading schedule & a need for recovery meant that I haven’t really had time to write. Until now that is! I’m back baby! & things are going to be brighter & better than ever! I thought I would share some photos from my 21st birthday party.
The theme was “Casino Royal” which meant I could enjoy two of my favourite things; cocktails & card games! I managed to hire some professional croupiers & card tables from Love2Party, acquire a substantial amount of liqueurs & whip up some delicious vegetarian finger food. The scene was set & all that was needed now were the guests! Revelry ensued! Here are my favourite photos form the evening;
The two winners of the evening; together they won forty-seven thousand dollars! In play money of course….
Well dressed party goers!
My aunts & two of my cousins
Bow ties ahoy!
“wardrobe catastrophe” indeed!
At the poker table
& the roulette table
& the blackjack table!
Handing out cash….as you do!
Fun with chips
In lieu of a birthday cake I had cupcakes & a tea light - awesome!
My Mum & my Dad
Everybody pout!
& the evening ends!

When I was a kid I never bothered with birthday wish lists, or Christmas wish lists either for that matter. I was, it seemed one of the most content children around. Now however, things are a little different & that’s not to say for the worst. I think its fun to dream up extravagant lists & imagine the fantastic. It just so happens to be my birthday soon, so I thought I would whip up a wish list - it can’t hurt to ask right? Of course not - so here it is!
A night of bubbly drinks and thrilling card games, a Sony Vaio laptop (TZ series in case you were wondering!), a comfy cashmere cardigan, dainty crochet gloves, a talored blazer, knee high argyle socks, more teacups & saucers! A phone of my own (my last was mercilessly destroyed when I splashed water on it), a ticket outta here (oh yes!), Christian Louboutin patent pumps, vintage cameos, a potted orchid - my favourite flower, magazine subscriptions, decaffinated earl grey tea (find some for me & I will love you forever!), Alexander McQueen Skull Clutch, potted herbs & a big stack of books!
